THE GULF ISLANDS

The Canadian Gulf Islands are an archipelago sitting in the Gulf Of Georgia, between Vancouver Island and the mainland. These islands are serviced every day by BC Ferries.

The largest and most populated islands are Salt Spring Island, Galiano Island, Mayne Island, Saturna Island, and North and South Pender Islands. There are countless smaller islands in the group.

Although the Gulf Islands are only about an hour and a half from the metropolitan centers of Vancouver and Victoria, the hectic pace of the city does not exist here. Life moves at a slower and more comfortable pace known to the local residents as 'island time'.

Canada's island paradise has spectacular scenery. Many artists have travelled here from all corners of the globe, and a fortunate few have decided to live here permanently. Jim has lived on Mayne Island for more than 25 years: the constantly evolving landscape providing him with inspiration for his works of art.

The following pages contain useful links to many island businesses and facilities, useful to those who are planning their first trip to the islands, or simply wanting to learn more about this truly unique place in Canada.
